Blossa 20 Myntathé is inspired by Marrakech with tastes of mint and green tea

This year’s annual Blossa is inspired by, Morocco. There lies the city’s famous market square Djemaa el-Fna, where traditional sweet Moroccan mint tea is served. This year's glögg tastes of fresh mint and green tea combined with traditional glögg spices.

Every year, the annual Blossa glögg seeks inspiration from new places around the world. Marrakech is home to the World Heritage Site of Djemaa el-Fna, “the square of storytellers”, which was one of the sources of inspiration for the Blossa 20 glögg. The market’s cafés serve Moroccan green tea flavored with fresh mint leaves.

“The local tea is prepared ceremoniously: it’s brewed in peace and enjoyed warm in good company. The tea has many similarities with glögg, which is also carefully prepared and enjoyed together with loved ones. The bitterness of the green tea combined with the sweetness of glögg creates a pleasant finishing touch to the drink, while the mint brings freshness to balance the sweetness,” says Blossa’s Chief Blender Åsa Orsvärn.

This year’s bottle design is inspired by the Moroccan tiles that adorn the walls and floors around Marrakech. The greenish blue color brings to mind the cooling sea shimmering nearby. The style of the year 20 on the bottle resembles calligraphy, while the brassy, matte colors have been inspired by the brass trays popular at the market bazaars. The bottle has been designed by Scandinavian Design Group, which has designed all of Blossa's limited edition bottles since 2011.

Åsa Orsvärn's tips for the best Blossa 20 experience

  • Decorate the glögg with fresh mint leaves.

  • For added festivity, mix the glögg with a dry sparkling wine such as champagne, cava, crémant or prosecco.

  • The glögg can be enjoyed either hot or cold.
