Hot chocolate bar

Creating the ultimate hot chocolate bar

There’s nothing better than inviting friends over and warming up over a cup of hot chocolate. Grab our tips on how to set up a hot cocoa bar for a cozy evening together.

Cozying up indoors with a hot beverage in hand after spending the day outdoors is what Nordic winters are all about. Gather your friends and make some hot chocolate with all the treats together. Here’s how to get started:

Gather supplies

Mugs & hot chocolate

You can’t have a hot chocolate party without…well hot chocolate (and mugs!). Clear out your cabinets and have mugs or heat-resistant glasses ready. If you want to impress your guests, why not make homemade hot chocolate instead of using a ready mix. You can prepare it in advance and pour it into a thermos, for instance, so it stays warm.

This is where it gets fun! Let your creativity run wild and gather various treats to spruce up your hot chocolates. Some of our favorites include:

  • Different-sized marshmallows

  • Whipped cream

  • Sauces and syrups such as chocolate or caramel

  • Coarse sea salt

  • Chocolate chips

  • Crushed peppermint

  • Cocoa or cinnamon powder

There are so many great options to choose from when it comes to spicing up your hot chocolate with a splash of alcohol. For the ultimate Nordic hot cocoa experience, consider the products below.

Don’t forget the snacks! Hot chocolate is of course the star of the show, but good snacks tie it all together. Consider having cookies such as biscotti available – they are great for dipping into hot chocolate. You might also want to add something salty on the table to balance the sweetness.

Start mixing

Mixing a spiked hot chocolate is easy. You can just simply follow the ratio of 2 dl hot chocolate and 4 cl of the liqueur or other alcohol of your choosing. Try different combinations to find your favorite but remember to drink responsibly.
