Aiming for carbon-neutral drinks production by 2025

We are proud to work with products that are the best choice for the environment and for the climate. Altia, the company producing Koskenkorva Vodka, Valhalla, O.P. Anderson, Xanté and Blossa Glöggs has published a sustainability Roadmap extending to 2030, built around a core of the circular economy and carbon-neutral production. In 2018, we also received the Green Company of the Year 2018 award for the circular economy at the Koskenkorva distillery.

Thanks to the circular economy, 100% of barley - the raw material for the ethanol distilled at Koskenkorva - is used. None of it goes to waste as the barley husk that would otherwise not be used in the Koskenkorva plant’s production is incinerated in the plant’s own bioenergy power plant, which supplies steam energy for the distillery. This use of renewable fuel has helped the Koskenkorva distillery to cut down its fossil carbon dioxide emissions by over 50% percent.
